In this course, we’ll introduce you to the essentials every founder must have in place before an international expansion. You’ll learn to identify the weak points and wrong assumptions of your strategy, and how to assess your company's readiness for expansion.

Base Miami Talks: Meet key members in the Miami Tech Community and the advantages the ecosystem has to offer.
In your market, which is small compared to the US (imagine that only South Florida has the same GDP as all Chile), you need to diversify in order to generate sufficient revenue and to grow. So we tend to start selling “everything to everyone” – multiple industry verticals, use cases and product categories.

This is a losing approach in the US, where competition forces us to be specialists to narrow our customer segments and have very specific offerings for a very specific target audience. This is why we will teach you on how to try to come up with one product, one offer and one client. Build expertise around that and you will have a chance in this market.

If you think your product is the best in the world, think again! Just because it does well in your home country doesn't mean it will be a success in other markets. The key to success is not just having a great product, but also validating your business idea. Too often, entrepreneurs rush to market without fully testing their product or idea, and end up being unsuccessful. 

In this session you will learn how to build and validate their product offering and underlying assumptions. “Pre-validation” before actually setting up the company in the US helps entrepreneurs avoid unnecessary costs and setbacks later.

How to Reach Your Target Market

Base Miami Talks: A meeting with one of the founders that already hit the mark in the Miami market to learn first hand about their experience.
As a brand entering a new market, it can be difficult to reach your desired target audience. However, by staying up-to-date on current trends, knowing your business competition, and utilizing personalization techniques and communication strategies, you can create a competitive advantage over other brands.

This session will focus on how to research and find the channels that connect with your potential customers, as well as how to engage them. By the end, you will have identified where your intended customers are active online or offline (e.g. conferences), and who the main influencers are. This might include top 10 websites, social networks, (LinkedIn) groups, podcasts, Youtube channels, etc. You will also have learned how to engage with potential customers and influencers on these channels through digital interaction and content – paid or earned.

How to Create Your US Business

Establishing your business in the US is a complex process and one that varies significantly between each company. We’ll help you get started by providing all the information you need to know about corporate formation, local and international taxes so that you can successfully operate in the US market. You'll learn about the different types of business entities available in the US, how to choose the right one for your business, and how to file the necessary paperwork. We have also partnered with the best in class to offer you free corporate legal and immigration advice to help you with the fundamentals you’ll need. 

We’ll close the bootcamp with a networking event with all the speakers and a final Q&A session to wrap up everything we learned.
